INTRODUCTION TO MULTI-PITCH LEADING

Thank you for your interest in the above course. The following information outlines the course and gives some idea of programme, whom the course is suitable for, costs, accommodation, travel arrangements, kit etc.

Who is it Suitable for?
This course is aimed at people who wish to take on the challenges offered by bigger routes. IT IS NOT A BEGINNERS COURSE, candidates should already have some experience of single pitch climbing and basic teachniques such as runner placement and belaying.

What will be Covered?
The basic course will hope to include most of the following, depending on the conditions:
Equipment selection
Setting up of anchors for leading through, swapping leader
Communication systems
Use of guidebooks and following a route
Basic, effective rope work that avoids tangles etc
Abseiling, including retreat from routes
Navigation and descent from mountain routesEnvironmental and access issues
Longer course can include self reacue, accessing sea cliffs etc.

Maximum ratio is 1:4

Location:
The course will be based in North Wales, and we will visit a variety of multi-pitch crags, depending on the weather. You can chose where you wish to stay, from bunkhouse to hotel. We can advise you on the arious options.

Transport:
Candidates are expected to make there own way to the venue.

SUGGESTED KIT LIST

Climbing Equipment:
All clients require the following: Rock Boots Harness Helmet Belay device and krabIf you have them, then please bring: Lead rack, even if it is very small Lead rope, 10 to 11mm single or two 8 –9mm doubles Any other technical ear you may wish to use

Personal Equipment:
Lots of warm layers Outer wind/waterproof layer Gloves, preferably windproof Warm hat Sunglasses and sun cream? Flask/water bottle Personal first aid kit, especially if you have specific requirements Rucksack of around 30- 40 litres

Other Gear:
All personal wash kit Personal medication Lipsalve is useful Towel Food if self catering.
