INTRODUCTION TO SINGLE PITCH
LEADING
Thank you for your interest in the above course. The following
information outlines the course and gives some idea of programme,
whom the course is suitable for, costs, accommodation, travel
arrangements, kit etc.
Who is it Suitable for?
The course is aimed at people with no, or limited, experience
of climbing outdoors using leader placed protection. It is
also ideal for those wishing to move on from the indoor wall
environment.
What will be Covered?
The syllabus will hope to include most of the following, depending
on the conditions:
Equipment selection
Setting up of anchors
Communication systems
Use of nuts, camming devices and other specialist equipment
Basic, effective rope work
Abseiling
Environmental and access issues
Maximum ratio is 1:4
Location:
The course will be based in the Peak District, and will visit
a variety of the Gritstone edges.
Transport:
There is no transport provided to, from or during the course,
but we will try to arrange lift sharing, wherever possible,
to help with costs.
Accommodation:
Thecourse is offered as instruction only. You are responsible
for booking and paying for your own accommodation. However,
we will be able to make suggestions of where to stay, from
camping upwards.

SUGGESTED KIT LIST
Climbing Equipment:
All clients require the following: Rock Boots Harness Helmet
Belay device and krab If you have them, then please bring:
Lead rack, even if it is very small Lead rope, 10 to 11mm
single or two 8 -9mm doubles Rope protectors & any other
technical ear you may wish to use
Personal Equipment:
Lots of warm layers Outer wind/waterproof layer Gloves, preferably
windproof Warm hat Sunglasses and sun cream? Flask Personal
first aid kit, especially if you have specific requirements
Other Gear:
Personal medication, anything you need for your accommodation
etc.
