The emphasis is not on high grade climbing but high quality routes, where learning can be more easily managed. It may be possible for clients to lead, where appropriate.

What Experience is needed?: We cannot accept novices with no prior climbing experience. You should be able to fit your own harness, tie on, belay and use basic trad climbing gear. Some experience of abseiling is strongly recommended. You need not be a lead climber, but you must be aware that you will be accessing some remote and committing crags, where you will be responsible for your own actions and where it may not be possible for your guide to be with you all the time.

Staffing: The staffing ratio will be 1:2, and the instructor is Keith Fleming (MIC). Keith has been to the Island on 8 times, spread over 16 years.

Travel: We will try to arrange lift sharing amognst staff and clients, to cut down on costs. Petrol costs will be shared amongst the passengers.

Kit: A full kit list will be sent on application, but you need at least your own helmet, boots, harness, belay device and slings/krabs.

Cost: £190 course fee only. Accomodation , food and travel are extra and will be paid by the client.

The Climbing
The best way to find out about the routes is through the guidebook, available from most climbing shops. The cliffs are mostly on the West or South coasts, and mainly granite and vary form single pitch to 3 pitches. Many are tidal and facing the prevailing weather and seas. There are routes of all gradesm, although we will concentrate on routes up to VS. We aim to do such classics as Doorpost (HS), Doorway (S), Commando Ridge (VDiff), South Face Direct (VS), Right Angle (HS), Demo Route (HS) etc. Many of the routes require abseil entry and a steady nerve on the approaches. The routes are some of the finest seas cliff experiences to be had anywhere, and the remote and committing feel adds to the experience.

Itinerary
It is impossible to set an itinerary in advance, due to weather and tide restrictions, but we aim to climb from about. Please look through the guide, or one of the selected climbs books, and see if there are any particular routes you would like to do. We would be happy to take you on them if suitable and reasonable.
