Welcome to our instructor training pages.


we are one of the few providers of this range of Mountain Training courses in the South East of England in being able to offer all of the qualifications accredited by MountainTraining.

For more information about the governing bodies of each award, please click the logo but to help with understanding the wide range of qualifications and training in walking, climbing and mountaineering provided by Mountain Training they have created some lovely little infographics to explain how they all fit together. All awards are U.K. based and valid anywhere in the British Isles.

Each award (bar 1st aid) split into two separates course: training and assessment. 1st aid is completed in one weekend, and is continually assessed during the course.

There are pre-requisites to attending the courses below, and these can be obtained by following the provided links.

Lowland Leader :“A nationally accredited scheme developed and administered by the MountainTraining Board. This award is will train and assess those who wish to lead groups on day walks in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions. For further information on the qualification please Click Here"

A further two day Expedition Skills Module is available for those who wish to lead and supervise overnight expeditions. The module also covers remote supervision and teaching navigation.

Climbing Wall Instructor : The scheme is for climbers who are in a position of responsibility when supervising climbing activities on indoor or outdoor climbing walls, artificial boulders and towers. A unit also covers top belaying and abseiling.

Climbing Wall Development Instructor : This qualification has been designed to train and assess those who wish to teach lead climbing skills on indoor or outdoor artificial climbing walls and structures with fixed protection. It covers the introduction, coaching and on-going development of the technical and movement skills required to lead routes.

Rock Climbing Instructor : Aimed at persons wishing to lead groups and individuals on single pitch rock climbs, abseils and climbing walls in the UK. It does not cover the teaching of lead climbing.

Mountain Leader : A long established qualification to promote the safe enjoyment of the hills and mountains. The qualification covers the technical and group management skills required by those who wish to lead groups in the mountains, hills and moorlands of the United Kingdom and Ireland, other than in winter conditions.

Outdoor 1st Aid. We organise and offer bespoke Outdoor 1st for you at wherever you are based, to meet the needs of the 'Governing Bodies. Course directors have extensive person experience of emergency 1st aid in the field, the military or ambulance service, offering advice and training based on real situations, rather than theoretical.
